About Our Honcho
Don Sangster is a lifelong newspaper and magazine editor/writer who spent the 1990s at Canada’s foremost trade publication for the advertising industry, Marketing Magazine. He engineered development of the first two generations of marketingmag.ca. After being named Marketing‘s director of new media in 1998, he presided over a dynamic team of designers, producers and programmers to take the marketingmag site into the 21st century.
Sangster left Marketing Magazine to join a partnership that had recently acquired a small, regional pet periodical. He became publisher, administrator and co-owner of City Dog Magazine.
“City Dog Magazine was a brilliant concept which deserved a better fate,” Don recalls. “It should have been a smash hit with dog people everywhere. We needed a business mind on the team, but all we had was a brain-trust of very bright and talented journalists. Still, it was one of the most enlightening learning experiences of my life.”
Freelance writing, editing and blogging via a number of online ventures revitalized his interest in electronic publishing in general and Internet marketing in particular. He began developing the iMedia Impact concept early this year.
“I saw a burning need to inform and educate owners of small businesses, particularly those that don’t have the means to hire top Internet marketing specialists. The City Dog experience gave me a lot of empathy for small businesses with very limited budgets that are struggling to survive. This is the niche I’m targeting.”

I’m going to be putting Don’s RSS feed on my business website. I just haven’t found a place for it yet. There is great stuff here on local search. I’m going to try some screenshots of Google Places this weekend on my site.
All the Best,
Rick
